DebtStoppers is partnering with Chicago State University (CSU) to help employees and students better understand their options for managing debt. The partnership will combine debt education with access to legal services when needed, including a 15% discount on our legal fees for CSU employees and students.
Our first event is planned for November 2, 2026, with further arrangements being coordinated with the university.
Education will be the focus of our work with CSU. Through this partnership, we will discuss managing debt and understanding the options available, including bankruptcy. Our aim is to make those conversations accessible to university employees and students who have questions about their financial circumstances.
“We are very excited about the opportunity to serve the Chicago State University community,” said Patrick Semrad, managing partner of The Semrad Law Firm.
The partnership creates an opportunity to bring these discussions directly to the university community. For someone unsure where to begin, understanding the available options can be a useful first step toward deciding whether to seek individual legal help.
Alongside the educational initiative, we are offering CSU employees and students a 15% discount on our legal fees. This offer extends the partnership beyond education to support members of the university community who need legal services.
Patrick Semrad and Lyudmila Lecheva will serve as the firm’s points of contact for coordinating the partnership with CSU.
We look forward to meeting the CSU community at our first event on November 2 and beginning these conversations together.
