Kurt Yao is an Attorney with The Semrad Law Firm in Houston Texas, where he represents individuals and families in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy proceedings. Kurt concentrates his practice on helping clients navigate financial hardship with dignity and security, advocating for their rights in court and negotiating with creditors to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Before joining Semrad, Kurt practiced for more than six years as a Senior Associate Attorney with Stange Law Firm in Missouri, where he managed a wide range of family law cases including divorce, custody, probate, and estate planning. He also worked with U.S. Bank as a Bankruptcy Associate, gaining valuable experience in financial services and creditor-side representation.
Kurt is admitted to practice law in Missouri and Illinois. He earned his Juris Doctor from Syracuse University College of Law, where he served as Treasurer of the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association. He received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with concentrations in Accounting and Finance, from Saint Louis University.
